This 1 day/8-hour seminar will teach you the basics of photographic lighting in a studio environment people. In the morning session I will discuss and demonstrate the fundamentals of light and lighting your subject. The afternoon will be spent with a live model. You will learn about:
- Quality of light and how to control it
- The inverse square law and its effect on the quality of light
- Using your light meter effectively
- Controlling light indoors (putting light where you want it)
- An inexpensive alternative to soft boxes in the studio
- Simple one to two light set-ups including using reflectors to your advantage (how to “throw” light into the shadows)
- How to work with more complicated set-ups
- How to protect your images when posting them online
- Applying the lectures to a 3-hour shoot with a model–you will set-up and shoot your own headshots and follow-up with a fashion shoot.
Course Notes: This is an intermediate level class. Participants are expected to possess a working knowledge of the basics of photography. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Classes are limited to 10 students and will be held on a Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (The live shoot will begin at 1:00 PM). Bring a lunch and plan to work while eating!
Fees: Seminar: $200.00 Model Fees: $60.00 Total Fees: $260.00 plus $12.25 GET. A $100.00 deposit is required to reserve your space in the class. Participants are responsible for their own film and processing and/or digital processing.
