On-line Module 1: Introduction to Digital Photography--Basic Camera Mechanics
Module 1: Introduction to Digital Photography–Basic Camera Mechanics is now live! This module will teach you the basics of exposure control; the three components of your camera that determine your exposure; how to meter light with camera; when and why to change your aperture (f-stop), shutter speed and ISO; lenses; depth of field and capturing motion, understanding White Balance and more–all at your own pace! You will receive a password giving you access to the class web page. Web page is yours to bookmark and return to whenever you wish.
Little Lights Big Impact Sessions A and B
Join Stan P. Cox II for a 2.5 hour in studio discussion of how to understand and effectively use small portable light sources to create beautiful portraits on location. You will then join Stan on location for 3.5 hours while he shows you how to put the morning session to work. Class participants will act as each others subjects and will all set up the lights and see how it works first hand. Tuition includes 4.712% Oahu General Excise Tax

Working With Models
Join us for a three and 1/2 hour mini-workshop devoted to showing you ways to work models to create outstanding portraits and fashion images. You will work with one of Oahu’s most beautiful and talented models in a professional studio setting. The first hour will be spent setting up the studio and discussing some of the basics of model photography. Two hours will be spent on the set. We’ll discuss issues related to posing and interacting with your model. We’ll start with a head and shoulders portrait and then move to full length and show some of the common posing mistakes and how to fix them. The final half hour will be spent tearing the studio down and discussing common post-production issues. Tuition includes 4.712% Oahu General Excise Tax.
NOTE: We will discuss some basic lighting issues and you’ll learn proper metering techniques, but this is NOT a lighting course. Full day and mini-lighting workshops are available.
Outdoor Lighting
8-hour one day seminar focuses on the basic of photographic lighting in an outdoor location. You’ll learn the laws that govern how light works and how to modify them to fit your needs in the morning session. So You Just Got a New DSLR or SLR Camera--Now What?
This three hour class will show you why and how to use the different modes and settings on your new camera. We will discuss ISO and WB settings as well as the differences between program, aperture/shutter priority and manual modes. The class will usually be held on location so you will immediately apply what you learn. Tuition includes 4.712% Oahu General Excise Tax.
Create Better Images With Your Point and Shoot Camera
Learn basic composition and lighting techniques that will greatly improve the images you create with your point and shoot camera. This two hour class will usually be held on location so you can immediately apply what you learn. Tuition includes 4.712% Oahu General Excise Tax.
Photography Excursions to Hidden Oahu
Join your hosts, Stephen Dantzig and Stan Cox II, two of Hawaii’s premier photographers/educators, as we teach you how to create your own breathtaking images while basking in nature’s glory. Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens will be our first stop, but the photography lessons will begin on the bus ride to the park. We’ll spend 1 to 1 1/2 hours exploring and photographing the magnificent views of the majestic Ko’olau Mountain Range. The next stop will include lunch at Honey’s at the Ko’olau Golf Course. We’ll have a few more minutes to talk story and answer more of your photography questions on the short drive around to Little Makapu’u Beach Park. This beach offers a great view of Rabbit Island and the shoreline leading up to the Makapu’u Light House. We’ll have about an hour to explore the different photography opportunities here. The bus ride home can be spent reviewing your photographs and answering any final questions. Tuition includes 4.712% Oahu General Excise Tax.
